Competition floor where you at?  Lockdown sucks, and we miss hosting awesome events for our LMS Community.  As we edge closer to live events, we are still stuck with internal box comps. 

May we just add to all those that participated in the CrossFit Open, bloody well done!  Some of our locals completely smashed it, I mean do you even lift, bro? 

To entice your training and competitive alter ego, Last Man Standing has decided to put together another FREE online competition hosted on the LMS Fitness App.  Aren’t we just the best?  Here’s what is going down. 

This event is called the Virtual Rowathon and consists of two sub-events. Namely 3 parts of sprints, and oooooone 10km. Don’t worry, we will explain it all right here.

Event 1 - Sprints

Virtual Rowathon Part 1 - 1 km Sprint - 17-22 May 2021

Virtual Rowathon Part 2 - 2 km Sprint - 24-29 May 2021

Virtual Rowathon Part 3 - 5 km Sprint - 31 May - 5 June 2021

Event 2 - Endurance

Virtual Rowathon - 10 km Endurance - 17 May - 5 June 2021

Right, so these distances are short and sweet.  This might not be a partner WOD, but some oaks and ladies can really pull a rower to lift off, so make sure that you bolt that thing down to the ground or have your box heavyweight serve as a natural anchor.  Don’t say we didn’t warn you! 

 

Each part of the event will run for one week, where scores can be logged for that week only.  This will continue for three weeks until all parts have concluded. Entries are free and each event needs to be entered individually.  You do not have to compete in all the events and may even just enter those of your choosing.  Entries can only be made through the LMS Fitness App where you will be able to view your score on our live Leaderboards. 

PRIZES

Now, to get to the sauce.  We know no one enters anything if there aren’t any prizes.  Therefore, Last Man Standing has partnered with REBEL Elite Fitness and Urban Bull Clothing Co. to sort you out.  Prizes to the value of R10k have been sponsored and are waiting to find their way to you! 

Prizes will be awarded to all 1st place winners of each workout for both male and female competitors.  There will also be a prize awarded to the 1st placed male and female athletes of overall scores for part 1, part 2, and part 3 combined. This obviously means that if you complete all the parts, your overall scores will be combined to stand a higher chance of winning. So don’t skip a part!

For those doing the 10km endurance challenge, you will have a chance of winning a pair of Reebok Nano X1's! Keep an eye out on our social media pages for more info about this spoil!

HOW TO ENTER

  1. Download the FREE Last Man Standing Fitness App from your Play Store or App Store. 

  2. Create a profile or log in if you already have a profile (remember to add your shirt size). 

  3. Once logged in to your profile you can click on the Last Man Standing Virtual Rowathon event to register. 

  4. Follow the registration prompts - it is FREE to enter all Rowathon events.

  5. Once you have successfully registered the App will display your registration and automatically add you to the live Leader Board. 

HOW TO SET UP ROWER

Step 1: Select Workout

Step 2: Select New Workout

Step 3: Select Single Distance

Step 4: Use arrow keys, plus and minus to select the distance you are rowing in meters

Step 5: Press the check mark

Step 6: Don't forget to set up your video and include the distance you are about to row. Check T's & C's for video requirements.

HOW TO SUBMIT VIDEO

Step 1: Start your video by showing the distance programmed on the screen, put your camera somewhere where it records you rowing for the entire duration, and finish it off by showing the time you rowed. 

Step 2: Complete the Google Form BELOW and submit your video. 

Please note:

  • If you are the winner of the event and you have not submitted a video you will not be eligible for any prizes. 

  • All videos need to be Zipped files only, the maximum file size is 100MB.

Terms & Conditions

REGISTRATIONS/DIVISIONS

  1. Download the FREE Last Man Standing Fitness App from your Play Store or App Store.

WOD’S/WORKOUTS

  1. The Last Man Standing Virtual Rowathon will run for 3 weeks. 

  2. Every week a new part of event 1 will be released for completion.  Part 2, the 10 km workout, will run for the entire duration of the event.

  3. Workouts will be released every Thursday at 12:00 midday (CAT). 

  4. Score submissions will be open until the following Tuesday at 18:00 (CAT). 

  5. Athletes may resubmit their scores as many times as they want, up until the deadline. 

SCORING

  1. Each event will have one scoring opportunity (total workout time). 

  2. Scores will need to be submitted via the LMS Fitness App. 

  3. All scores will be displayed on the live Leader Board. 

JUDGING

  1. No judges are required to score athletes. 

LEADER BOARD/REVIEWS

  1. All scores need to be submitted via the LMS Fitness App to be displayed on the live Leader Board. 

  2. If a score submission is late and past the submission deadline there is no other opportunity to resubmit. 

  3. All top 5 finishers of each workout for both the Male and Female categories are required to submit a video of the workout to be reviewed.  Athletes aiming for a top 5 finish are advised to record all workouts. 

  4. If no video has been submitted and the athlete finished in the top 5 according to the Leader Board the athlete will not be eligible to win any prizes. 

  5. Video submissions will be assessed and reviewed by a panel of certified CF trainers. 

VIDEO REQUIREMENTS

  1. The athlete should clearly state their name and the entered workout that will be performed. 

  2. The athlete should present the equipment being used. 

  3. The athlete has to be visible in the frame for the duration of the workout and may not step out of the frame at any time. 

  4. The video must be positioned at an angle and not directly from the side, front or back as the movement needs to be clearly visible for assessment and review. 

  5. The Concept 2 Rower monitor must be displayed in the video for the duration of the workout that indicates the start time and distance, running time and end time of the workout once completed. 

  6. The monitor does not have to be legible throughout the workout, only visible, but must be clearly displayed before the athlete starts their workout with the prescribed distance set and displayed and after the athlete has completed their workout the monitor must be displayed so the workout time is visible. 

  7. All videos may not be edited, cut, or altered in any way as this will result in the video being deemed invalid and rejected for assessment and review (this includes any filter or lenses applied to the frame). 

  8. Apps such as WODProof are recommended for such video submissions. 

PRIZES

Only 1st place Male and Female athletes of each workout will receive prizes.  These include:

Event 1:

  • Part 1 (1 km Sprint)

  • Part 2 (2 km Sprint)

  • Part 3 (5 km Sprint)

  • Prize for best overall score for part 1, 2 and 3 combined

Event 2:

  •  10 km Endurance

*Shipment of prizes only within South Africa. 

*If an athlete wins more than one event, selected prizes up for grabs for that event/workout will be forfeited due to some prizes being the same item for various events.
